Resin flooring has a huge amount of application uses across all industries.
Typical reasons to use resin flooring used include:-
* Heavy duty usage. * Slip resistance. * Seamlessness. * Chemical resistance. * Dust-proofing. * Anti-static. * Water-proofing. * Decorative finishes.
Resin flooring products range from a water-based coating (typically 50-60% solids) through to 9mm thick epoxy or polyurethane resin screeds. There are also polymer resin screeds and underlayments which can be applied in excess of 25mm thickness.
Some resin coatings can be easily applied by brush or roller but most resin systems require skilled application techniques. Also, to ensure the maximum life of a product, it is essential the substrate is properly prepared which typically include mechanically abrasion, plus potentially oil decontamination treatment, surface renovation, damp-proofing, concrete repairs and jointing reinstatement.
Budget considerations can determine which type of resin flooring is used; for example, a water-based coating may provide the same benefits as a high-build coating in an area subject to foot traffic but the high-build system will have a longer life expectancy. However, in most situations it is a case of identifying the right resin product for the particular requirements of the end-user.
